I bought this board because it has a brightness control. I have to keep the brightness to a minimum when using it for celestial star parties. The board works great, but the remote control is the cheapest in the world (it's just NEEDED cheap!). I don't expect the remote to last very long or be used a lot. Unfortunately, once the board is out, you won't be able to manage it without it. Without a remote, the default setting is a gradual appearance/disappearance of different colors. It could use a better remote control. UPDATE: After I posted the above review, the seller contacted me with concerns about my review. They sent me a brand new board AND remote and asked if I would consider updating my review. This time I found the remote control sufficient, everything works well and excels in the tasks I need it for (astronomical use outdoors, in the dark, at LOW LIGHT). I've had many reviews of this at celebrity parties and have been asked where I can buy it. I confidently pointed these people towards Revain and the Hosim LED writing board. I am very pleased with their focus on customer satisfaction. Thanks customer service!
