Review on Ninja CM407 Specialty Fold-Away Single Serve To 10 Cup (50 Oz.) Coffee Maker Frother by Brian Batiste

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Completely Satisfied, so far it's more than I initially imagined

I love this machine! If it lasts even 2/3's as long as the simple coffee mate I used to have, it will have been worth every penny I spent more.It make just about every size I can imagine if you properly load it, making it ideal for some one like me: who some days wants the full pot because they are working from home, and others just wants a quick cup on the way out the door. I've tested it, but look forward to longer term using the setting meant for filling travel tumblers. (I do that more often in winter)The "Rich" and "Specialty" buttons work great, and wish I had them before on other makers. The "Rich" button basically some how has a similar effect as one might get to loading extra grounds into the basket for a stronger cup (some thing I did regularly before), but with a little less mess risk and a little more favorable production ratio (IMO). "Specialty" when combined with the (frother attachment for milk) gives me a home product I like enough to cut my treat Starbucks visits in half! My only desire there would be to have a setting / ratio listed to be able to do double or triple "Specialty" runs without setting it up repeatedly, since the serving on "Specialty" isn't all that big. (I.e. simulate my "Grande" and "Venti" days at Starbucks in one hit rather than just a "Tall".) "Over Ice", well I'm still on the fence on that one, though I have used it successfully, it's just hard to know how much ice to load, and it feel like you're better off just running it normally then adding ice if you want to simulate a Starbucks/Dunks Ice'd.The one place I will say could use some work is the hand-wash ability of the water reservoir and Carafe. I don't have very big hands for a guy, but I can't really reach inside the tricky spots there too easily. HOWEVER - for some one as semi-lazy as myself this is easily solved by the fact that they are both Dishwasher safe.As you might have derived from that last paragraph, I also like the fact the water reservoir is detachable for cleaning and filling. The drip stop and timer settings seem to work about as one might straight forward expect. It also comes with a few recipes in the back of the quick start guide for some nice drinks that I've enjoyed. One feature it lacks, but I knew that ahead, is that you either need to buy ground or have your own grinder. However It seems to me this is a pretty darn good machine to avoid going up to the super expensive tier, which is the only place I've seen that included. I suppose if you really wanted K-cups it doesn't have that either, but I honestly have not found a K-cup coffee product that I really like (and the do it yourself ones I find a joke), so that was not a loss for me at all.Very happy with it so far. If its longevity holds long enough for me to feel I've gotten my money's worth (the only legit concern left I recall from others reviews) then I would buy a new one next machine.

Pros
  • Specialty brew: brew super-rich Coffee concentrate that you can use to create delicious lattes, macchiato, cappuccinos, and other coffeehouse-style drinks.
Cons
  • The plastic parts can be flimsy and break easily
