I have to admit that when I shop on Prime Day I usually buy on impulse and don't do my usual excessive research, which I sometimes regret. This is one of those purchases. It's not terrible, but for the price, it's just not a good buy, even during Prime Day. First, the glossy finish spoils the look of the wood grain. I hate to use the word "cheap" but this looks pretty *budget*. I bought this to store shoes and while it can hold a few pairs I find it difficult to use with heels which make up the bulk of my shoe collection. It's my own fault if I didn't pay attention to this, because of course the slats would make stowing heels more difficult, but I mention it anyway if it isn't obvious to others. The block isn't the strongest, but that's to be expected since it's made of thinner slats of wood. It's not hard, so close to it. Another important point is that the wood is not sanded well. When I first opened the box I saw a cute pair of white gloves and wondered why they were included - to not leave fingerprints? – but it quickly became clear why. As I was sorting the shards on the floor, a splinter ended up in my purse with my finger. Ouch! Even with gloves! So yes… everything is fine and NOT worth the current price. Go to IKEA instead.
