Review on 🍨 Vollrath 0.75 oz Stainless Steel Disher - Size 40 by Chris Kajzer

Sturdy, well-made dough spoon for cookies, mini muffins and ice cream (Vollrath #40)

This is a great scoop. I use it for ice cream, cookie dough, muffin and meatball dough and it works great. It's strong and durable, works well and feels good in the hand. I've had it for two years now, I use it several times a week and have had no problems with it. Despite the mechanism, cleaning is not difficult: to clean, simply press the handle under the moving arch, and then put it in the dishwasher. slightly smaller than a ping pong ball. Cookies made with this spoon typically come out of the oven about 2.5 inches in diameter, giving or taking a half inch (depending on the dough!). I watch my weight and I find these scoops are great for small portions of ice cream, mini muffins and meatballs that can be eaten in about two bites, and medium-sized cookies that are filling (for me, at least) but not overpowering Person. Please note that #40 is too small to make savory bakery style cookies. If you want to make those large cookies, use a large spoon - I use #16 (2 ounces) for large baked goods cookies. #16 makes cookies 3 to 4 inches in diameter, with most being around 3.5 inches. I think they are too big for normal home use. My only complaint about the Vollrath blade is that they don't make a left handed version. This is a very correct instrument. I'm left-handed and I usually hold this scoop in my left hand, scooping up food and then curling my index and middle fingers to pull the lever down to release the food. It's not convenient. The angle I have to hold it at means the bow's "powerful swing" comes up from the bottom of the blade rather than the top down, making the sticky stuff a little harder to loosen. Sometimes I switch the triggering instrument to my right hand, which makes triggering easier, but I find it more awkward as my right hand is weaker and less accurate than my left. But these are small things compared to the high quality and performance of this shovel. Note: There is another good ice cream scoop, the Zeroll, which is a much simpler scoop with no mechanism or lever so can be used just as well. in any hand. Its peculiarity is that in its handle there is a liquid that, being heated by a hand touch, slightly heats the shovel shell from the inside, thanks to which the ice cream slides smoothly and easily over it. I also really like the Zeroll ice cream scoop - I have the Zeroll Zerolon #30 (1 oz) which is the smallest Zeroll that Zeroll makes and is slightly larger than the Vollrath #40 (3/4 oz). I use about equal parts Zeroll #30 and Vollrath #40 for ice cream, but Zeroll certainly wouldn't do for cookie dough, muffin dough, or meatball dough. For them I use Vollrath.
