Very attractive and durable, love the way it looks and works (I have it in the kitchen). Whether you use this for general trash or recyclables depends on your household. I wanted to use it for regular trash but it didn't work for me. The lid won't close and the bin holds so much that things that smell fast (like chicken bones) start smelling long before the bag is half full. If you have a large family and fill the bin faster, this may not apply to you. For me it's perfect for recyclables - paper, cardboard, washed cans etc - which on the one hand tend to make up the lion's share of my trash, but even if I don't fill it up quickly, smelly stuff tends to get in. ordinary garbage. I have another basket I use for this (originally a large dry dog food basket) purchased from Albertson's that is odor and ant/fly proof. Incidentally, through trial and error, I've found high-performance bags that are perfect for this purpose: Select Drawstring Lawn & Leaf Bags, 39 gal, 1.0 mil, 2ft 9in X 3ft 5in - (Green Box) - 18 bags for $3.99, sometimes sells for 2 for $7 at Von's and Albertson's. I like this trash can very much. , looks elegant and classy, the polished silver ring and lid perfectly match my devices, rocking effortlessly and silently. Easy to empty, replace the bag and clean. Ideal. Highly recommended.
