Fun Introduction to Pottery

Got this for my 5 year old for Christmas as he wanted it. You need to buy 4 C batteries to make it work - I missed that so we got the batteries today and got it working. It's very messy - as you would expect! You will need a container of water as the water really helps with the clay on the wheel making it easier for you to shape it. It only has one speed and it's pretty fast. I have no idea if real pottery wheels have speed or not, but sometimes it seemed too fast. My 5 year old loved it and we had a lot of fun. The pots we made are drying and waiting to be painted and decorated. I'm not sure how many more uses they will find, but this is a good taste of what it's like to use a potter's wheel and we're both inspired to find class now. The pots you make with it are not fired (not sure if you can still fire them if you want? I don't know enough about clay) so it says not to be used for food etc. - decorative only. I wish he could use that and after that they fired the job so it could be used. The wheel works fine. It includes some tools that you can use to paint patterns on clay. The foot pedal is good and we used it as it was handy to be able to stop if you needed to attach the pot to the wheel. We made three small pots. It's pretty cheap and I think it's worth buying. It is useful for adults to exercise behind the wheel! I liked it.

Don't do it! Reconsider! Pay that extra $3-4 for something that work!
