I bought this for my 10 year old daughter to use on dreadlocks that are under her very thick , long, unruly hair. It gets so bad that she stops combing all her hair and then I have to force her to let me help, which ends in tears for everyone! This brush was a welcome addition to that process! It works quickly on tangles and isn't as painful for her, which makes it less painful for me as well. Since her hair is intact, we use it after the shower when her hair is damp and well-conditioned (if your hair is damaged you should not comb it wet as that is when it is most prone to breakage). However, this product will not inspire my child to comb his hair consistently. Because her hair is so unruly and thick, these dreadlocks form easily when she doesn't comb her hair morning and night (if she had shaved her head, they would stick out in a straight, baseball-sized circle right on top of her hair, because in In this area she has about 55 whirlwinds, no kidding! Even getting her hair into a neat fairytale pony is difficult because the whirlwinds make it point in 7 different directions at the same time). Of course, being consistent might have been less important to her when she was 10 because other things are more important to her now! While this product works great it will not get rid of tangles/dreadlocks but will help remove them once they have started.
