Just got this today so I can update if something goes wrong again haha. I got this controller because my legitimate controller started getting soft buttons from playing Ultimate for so long. I lost my tri-wing wing and didn't want to experience the pain of taking it apart, so I experienced the pain of a third-party controller instead. I played a few matches with him today, so this review is probably the most helpful for people looking to play Smash. Compared to the official controller: the buttons are significantly faster (more stable), so short jumps with the X and Y buttons are more difficult, and sliding from Y/X to A to perform those short jump aerials is more uncomfortable. You can still do wave landings, raarbuers and everything else. It's just embarrassing lol. I found the soft buttons on my official controller to be more comfortable than the momentary buttons on this one, but time will tell if I can break this one and it will be better. - The buttons are flat on top, so you can better feel the edge of the button. I didn't even notice that the official controller's XY buttons were slightly curved until I felt the XY buttons for it. The Z key is not soft. On the official controller, the Z button is slightly raised by a piece of metal outside the case. In it he clicks. I also do short Z jumps, and while it's possible with this controller, I have to press the Z button less to do them or else I'll do a full jump. - D-Pad doesn't register as many inputs. I'm afraid it might be the same for all buttons, but I was playing over Wi-Fi so I didn't know. - The control button is made of an eraser-like material. I don't mind it, but it's not that soft. The C-Stick is again flatter on top than the original and again not as soft. The octagonal gate is also more pronounced, which is an advantage. I like it. The L/R triggers are digital, so you can't make short jumps with them (and probably can't beam a shield in melee). The paint on the shell isn't that smooth, but it's very, very small details. Whether you play Smash for fun or just want to play Gamecube games without the technicalities, this is a great controller. It's a really cute color and it works well. I can imagine playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle with this controller. But all the little differences in this controller's design (clicky, awkward flat buttons) will really add up when you try to do something different with it. Given the number of reviews saying it just dies randomly, this isn't the kind of controller you'd want to take to a tournament. I'll keep playing matches with it for scientific reasons and I'll update if anything comes up.
