I have an apartment with solid plasterboard walls covered in fresh plaster (5/8" finish) and am having real reception problems outdoors where the modem/router is located .I bought this so-called mesh device to solve this problem and improve reception in the half-dead zones.Unfortunately, all the negative reviews about this product are true - I had to listen. It took me almost two hours to get it to "start" and when I finally did and tried to host it the Wi-Fi signal kept dropping. Then after a lot of effort it found my 5G network and connected. Then it found my 2.4G network and reset my 5G network - keep repeating. Then another hour later when I finally got it working it turned out that on a speed test (OOkla and other test services) my 200 Mbit / s-D Service dropped to less than 1.0 in the ranges I wanted, where it used to be at least 20-30 Mbps. When I turned Nighthawk off and tested again in the same areas where I wanted to improve coverage, I lost 20-30 Mbps. Unfortunately, the dead zones were still dead and I just lost a lot of time. I spent another hour fiddling with the damn thing and then I said fuck it and bought another EERO. I have an EERO in my 5000 sq ft house (and it's error free and 100% reliable and it took me less than 10 minutes to set up 1 EERO and 2 beacons) and now I'm reconfiguring the Nighthawk and adding a new EERO my apartment with plasterboard walls. I hope I will be as happy at home as I am at home with my network.
