The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because it's not 'ultra soft'. Read the full review and don't write this brush off without trying it. However, it's softer than most brushes you'll find at drugstores or grocery stores; I used a softer toothbrush before. I give it an 8.5 out of 10 for its softness. I would like a softer toothbrush, but this affects (and does) the brush's ability to pick up and actually clean plaque. This brush cleans better than any manual brush I've used. The angle and taper of the bristles are ideal for cleaning hard-to-reach areas and between teeth and crevices. The bristles are also very fine and delicate, but supportive enough to actually brush and not just buff like some true "ultra" soft brushes. They are simply supportive and durable enough to withstand prolonged use. My gums are not irritated at all and I can clean all the important places where gums and enamel meet. I can also brush my gums and mouth easily with no irritation or pain. My gums don't bleed or get infected. Again, this is not an "ultra" soft brush, it is "very" soft, but that doesn't detract from its comfort and ability to successfully and completely clean your mouth and teeth. Highly recommended.
