I travel all the time. I often sleep in the car. Sometimes, not often, I turn on the heating or air conditioning when the car is parked. I've had exhaust leaks in the past. I never fall asleep when the car is running, but whether there is carbon monoxide present – of course I want to know that. The USB Charger/Carbon Monoxide Alarm fits snugly and securely into a 12V outlet and charges easily. But I didn't know how to test the carbon monoxide detector. The seller told me to do the following: Light a cigarette near the detector. When the detector is checking for carbon monoxide, an amber indicator will illuminate and remain on throughout the detection process. When the CO level exceeds 100ppm, the red light will flash and an audible alarm will sound; or if the CO is less than 100 PPM, the yellow light will turn off until the next detection scan. I don't smoke so I asked a friend who smokes to check the detector. The windows are rolled up. He enjoyed a cigarette in the previously non-smoking van. The detector worked. However, I'm a bit paranoid about the carbon monoxide in my minivan, so I bought another one for the rear 12 volt outlet. Quiet for little money. Good business.
