I needed to replace the valve and float in my automatic pool filler and this looked like it might fit so I took a chance. The float exposes the opposite wall of the filling chamber. This type of valve is an improvement over my previous valve as it is easier to adjust. Unfortunately, the problem that existed with my last valve was still there. The valve tended to reach a resonant frequency with the wave created in the chamber by the expulsion of water from the valve. That is, the valve would open and spray water into the chamber, the sudden jet would create a wave that would close the valve and open it again, and the valve would open a little wider and spray a little harder, creating a big wave would, which would open the valve. The valve is a bit wider, etc., resulting in a chug-chug noise at the filler neck and a rippling flow of water from the faucets around the house. I fixed the problem by putting a split rubber washer on the valve lever. This deflected the spray enough to prevent oscillations from starting.
