Nice general purpose tachometer. This review might get a little long as I also provide quick practical tips for my truck. I installed this on my 1990 Chevy C1500 truck. It has a 350 V8 and a manual gearbox, but no tachometer. How can I enjoy driving a truck with a V8 engine and a shifter without a tachometer? I didn't need a big racer tach and this 2-5/8" tach from Bosch is just right for a rack mount. This Bosch tachometer comes with the connectors that will most likely be needed for the installation, with the exception of the tachometer clamp on the steering column. I assume they leave it up to the installer as not every installation is column mounted. Installation was relatively easy, although it took me about a day to test and think about the process I would need. I also have the U-tube videos to see where to connect the sensor's green wire. This is the unused white wire coming from the front of the splitter. I drilled a small hole a few inches up where the accelerator cable goes through the firewall as there was more room in that area and free space. It also includes a grommet for routing the sensor cable through the firewall. I used fuse outlet shaft to connect the power cable and lighting in the fuse box l, which happened a few inches from the steering column. When I connected the power wires, leaving the ground wire last, I noticed that the tachometer was getting power. I think since the touch is now attached to the steering column, which is metal, it's grounded. I also connected the ground wire of the wheelbarrow. In the photo, the Neat with tachometer looks like it's blocking the view of one of the factory sensors behind it, but that's not the case. The photo is a close-up. If I'm actually driving, I go high enough to see the sensor. As some other reviewers point out, the tachometer display is pretty dim. That's good enough for night driving, but I can improve the light later. One more thing - the RPM gauge is on the OUTSIDE of the gauge bezel! This part was not clear to me in the instructions. I was trying to rotate the entire bezel like an empty beer can to move the pointer when my fingers accidentally touched the pointer and it moved. Oh well! Probably everyone knows this except me, but just in case there are others how to change the position of the pointer. Welcome back! Love this touch, it looks good, matches the dash and seems to work well. I'm sure most people will be happy too.
