I thought it would serve well as a laptop fan. The only thing that bothered me was the fan speed as it is quite low. The metallic thermal aspect of the pad seems to do most of the heat dissipation work. Fans seem to be moving too slowly to show a worthwhile aspect. As a replacement I will most likely consider another brand. If you're more concerned with noise than actual performance, this pad will do the job. The internal fan system on my extremely cooling Lenova Legion laptop only needed to be turned on once or twice with a spacer. I haven't tried without a mat as my glass table is heat sensitive and I don't want to risk waking up to a broken table.
