I wanted to elevate the monitors for a better viewing angle to help with posture, but I have a glass desk with a thick rail around the edge. Because of this, I couldn't use brackets that attach to the table, and I definitely didn't want to accidentally drill a hole in the glass for attachment. That helped. The base was just the right size to fit under an old monitor stand I had that was built to fit a full keyboard underneath, so it's no wider than a keyboard. So I put this old stand on a base to have a flat surface on my desk to store things. You can adjust the height to your needs regarding the height of the monitors, but you cannot adjust this height separately, since both mounts are connected to each other, you have to live with two different screens with some height differences. . The range of motion of the screens is decent, but you can't move too far forward or back or you'll tip the entire stand over. So be careful and keep your hands on the monitors when setting them up.
