Review on Kodak PlayTouch Video Camera Black by Alexander Roberson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Comfortable and decent quality

I haven't used any other pocket digital camcorders so I don't have direct experience to compare this camera, but I'm very happy with this camera, especially for their price I paid Revain for a brand new product in a sealed box. The more light, the better the picture. The only complaint I had was the creaking of the back, which the Kodak customer service staff seemed unaware of. This was very annoying as the squeak was picked up by the microphone and was clearly audible on playback. It was almost impossible to handle the camera without creaking. After some research on the internet, I found that this is a common problem that is easily fixed by pressing the two metal clips above the battery with the tip of a pen. No more squeaking. In daylight, the HD picture is excellent and easy to post to Facebook, YouTube, etc. It shouldn't replace a regular full-size camcorder, although I reach for it most of the time. Update: No wonder Kodak is in trouble. Although the camera was very small and little used, it broke pretty quickly, but of course after the warranty expired. Charges and works fine but does not hold a charge. If I charge it and use it right away, everything is fine. But if I charge it up and leave it, it's dead when I try to turn it on. Kodak support told me it had a bad "fee" and that it would cost the same to fix as I paid for the camera. I knew I should have bought the Flip instead. With this quality and poor customer service, Kodak will soon disappear altogether.

Pros
  • Full HD 1080p video and 5MP HD stills
Cons
  • Crumpled
