Good protection in skid plate

I used this to protect the polished aluminum on my mountain bike frame. I cut the pieces to size and used a 70% drugstore iso-alcohol spray to clean and install the vinyl. It comes on a tight roll making it difficult to work with, I had trouble getting sharp edges etc. I installed it wet by spraying the sticky side with alcohol so I could move it across the surface to align the seams almost perfectly . The next day small bubbles of liquid appeared under the film but I'm sure they will go away. So it's a great frame protector IMO, but you have to be really careful when installing it. Vinyl is very thick, even thicker than thick tape, and will definitely prevent stone chipping. It's also very crisp and can't be seen from 5ft on my brushed aluminum frame. I bought a 4x60 roll that was enough for the entire down tube, both stays, the left chainring and the back of the seat tube and my side arm near the rear shock. I lost maybe 6 inches, but if you're going to go crazy with this stuff and want to make a top tube, I'd go with a separate 2" roll because it's almost impossible to cut long ways.
