Shortly after opening the box I could tell it was most likely a return. One grinder did not have the plastic guard attached to the top of the grinder like the other. I soon found out why it could be returned, this coffee grinder works terribly! It gets stuck before you can turn it and makes a noise like it's stuck on something. I took it apart saw nothing wrong wanted to put it back together and the white ceramic piece did NOT snap into place as if it didn't fit. I tried replacing it with one of the extra ceramic cores and the same problem. The inner core of this coffee grinder prevents the enemy from using their grinder tip. Decided to see if I swapped out the core from my aging double grinder for this one and this core is slightly smaller and ended up fitting this broken grinder perfectly! Now this coffee grinder works great and chews peppers well and very well when needed. I'm pretty sure this grinder has a defective inner core as the second grinder works great, even the extra ceramic cores fit in nicely. Now for the overall quality. Without looking at the price I assume it is listed at a lower price. The quality is not very good, the glass part of both coffee grinders is full of nicks and bubbles. of course you don't see them well when they're full, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they're cheaply made. then remove the lid and scoop out the amount needed for the recipe. However, these caps are wide and difficult to detach from your hand/fingers, especially if you have arthritis. They're generally fine, and quite finely ground if that's what you want. If the price is under $20 I think it's worth buying IF you can get two perfectly working ones. They are quite large and look really good on the stove.
