Essential item in the glove box

I bought the Launch CR419 to have an inexpensive and compact OBD2 scanner in the glove box in case the check engine light came on on the road. It replaces a 10-year-old Actron compact scanner that only outputs codes and no other information. It gives me a lot more information and costs less money than when I bought the actron 10 years ago! By the way, just like reading an EKG for your heart, this tool gives you real-time data that you need to interpret and use to diagnose the problem. Yes it will tell you the code, but generally the car can give you the code in different ways. And this is where real-time data interpretation comes into play. So keep this in mind and if in doubt and can't figure out what's wrong, don't delete the code. Your mechanic will thank you. Now for my likes and dislikes: Likes: - inexpensive, compact, with long cable (about 3ft), color screen, lots of data, quick button press response until next screen appears, no batteries required and it can be powered via micro USB Connection to a computer (although I'm not sure if this is for updating firmware or downloading vehicle data to the computer). Dislikes: When viewing live data, the data is somewhat Connector is difficult to view quickly (especially when the car is moving) and comes with a handy cover to protect the pins, but lacks a snap-in feature. It just slides up and down (I use a rubber band to hold it). You can't read or erase ABS or SRS codes, but if you want to, choose CR519 or CR619. All in all, this tool is worth the money. It gives you all the important data to get your engine running again and disables the ABS and SRS functions that you may only need every 5-10 years. I plan to buy one of these. for all family members who have a car.
