Boot keeps foot in place. I could not use this item and found it dangerous for my knee. My knees are excessively stretched and I've always been afraid of kneecap slipping. My left knee was completely dislocated many years ago and I don't want to have surgery on my right one. The problem is with the base: the boot tilts up at the back at the base, which causes the foot to naturally recline into a "hyperextended" position on my foot with every step, not just when stationary. It seemed to me that my knee would continue to click and return to the position where we are most prone to luxating the patella. I can't carry that and I can't be scared of every step. If your knees don't have those issues, you can get by with this boot, and the small bulky pockets work well. The orthopedist gave me a top boot that looked similar but the base wasn't arched back so it works fine and will hopefully save me from having surgery on the 5th metatarsal on my right foot.
