Right after her first birthday we went to the beach with our daughter for the first time. We bought this beach tent for this child to allow them to take a nap in addition to the shade provided by an established parasol. Although the tent was easy to set up, we ended up just napping on a beach towel under the shade of an umbrella as she didn't like the tent that much. In addition, the tent is a bit difficult to put back into the original shell. But if you check YouTube you can find other brands with similar tents that have made videos on how to fold them up to fit back into their original storage case. I would say before you hit the beach, try trying a beach tent with a toddler in your backyard. If you don't like it there, I don't think you will like it on the beach either.
