Review on πŸ”§ Efficient Sunex 8804m 1/2-Inch Drive 4-Piece Metric Stud Puller Set for Easy Stud Removal by Amy Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very good tool at a great price

Received this Sunex 8804m bolt remover set yesterday and was very pleased with the quality of the packaging and the tool straight out of the box. However, I had to test right away whether this inexpensive set could do as well as the Matco set I had rented before. Again, I was VERY happy with this Sunex set; it worked just as expected. I am NOT a professional mechanic. I do NOT make a living from my tools. Needing a good bolt removal kit, I was willing to shell out $85 to get my own Matco SR101 kit that I borrowed from a mechanic friend last month. Before spending any money I looked for similar products and found this Sunex kit among others. There is VERY little information about this Sunex kit and no reviews so I decided to roll the dice and test this kit. I am VERY happy to say I am VERY satisfied with this Sunex kit after pulling 10 rivets the day I received it. This kit costs $33 for shipping. BENEFITS: Low price, durable molded body, uses similar if not the same binding mechanism as in Matco's bolt remover kit to grab bolt, DOES NOT damage threads, removes and installs bolts. CONS: Made in China (which it isn't), the warranty isn't as good as the tool trolley brand. For the hobby mechanic, this is the best value for money. If you are a professional mechanic you may find that these pullers weigh slightly less than a set from Matco and you can conclude that they are of inferior quality; maybe they are, maybe not. It's hard to say without using this set every day. If you must have a brand name, by all means spend. If you want to pull out some nits and save money, BUY THIS SUNEX 8804M KIT.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Interchangeability
