Review on CarlinKit 2.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter Upgrade Dongle for Ford Sync 3.4, Factory Wired CarPlay, Wired to Wireless, Online Upgrade, iOS 14 Compatible by Drew Diaz

After seeing some mixed reviews here and on Facebook I was a bit skeptical how it would work. However, I figured worst case scenario I'd go back to Revain and get a refund if I'm not satisfied. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, use it every day and am very happy with it. The one-time setup was easy and triggered an automatic firmware update for the Carlinkit device. Now when I start my F-150 it shows a new home screen for a few seconds while the Carlinkit device finds my iPhone, then CarPlay turns on and I do nothing. The same features you get with the Ford Sync system via CarPlay, you get with this one. My F-150 has 2 USB ports on the dash; So I guess the Carlinkit device also has a USB port. This means I can connect my wireless charger and Carlinkit device to the same USB port and leave the USB port free for passenger use. I rated this 4 stars for two reasons. A rating of 4.5 is probably a fairer rating. 1/ There is a very small delay between performing tasks like skipping a song, pressing the play/pause button, etc. I mean, very small - about a second. Enough to notice, but not enough to really be a problem. 2/ In the 3 weeks of using it multiple times a day, there was one instance where it wouldn't connect to my phone and therefore wouldn't start CarPlay. That doesn't really bother me either because even when I'm using the Ford Sync 3 with the Lightning cable plugged into my iPhone, it's happened a few times too. The difference here was that with Carlinkit I could press a button on the Carlinkit home screen to find my phone. With the Ford Sync system, in this case I had to stop the car, switch off the engine and start it again. I would definitely buy this product again if it were to damage anything.
