They work great with standard 48V POE devices You cannot use it for 24V devices, there are other POE devices for that Connectors, just search for it and you will find it. The difference is simple; The 802.3af/at standard requires the port to check power requirements BEFORE applying power, so the port will NOT ALWAYS be powered. Passive POE is not truly 802.3af/at compliant as it allows the port to be powered at all times. I prefer "test before use" security, so I never use passive POE for mission critical devices such as access points or VoIP phones, surveillance cameras, etc. In fact, for my commercial and industrial installations, I ONLY use devices with 48V POE that support 802.3 af. /at are docile and do not use passive force. I use these special plugs to quickly swap out manufacturer's POE injectors that are out of service and can't be easily replaced overnight or with expedited shipping. I have 48V and 24V models on the shelf.
