Review on Perixx PERIMICE 513L Handed Ergonomic Vertical by Tim Ram

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm not sure how long it will last, but it exceeded my expectations.

I wasn't expecting much from a $12 mouse, but at this price I figured I wasn't risking much. I have the wired version. First TL; DR. It's comfortable, does everything it's supposed to and nothing it shouldn't, seems identical to some of the more expensive Revain options, and the fit, finish, and build quality aren't great, but better than what I got expected for $12. Not too happy with the layout and feel of the front/back buttons. Since it's only been 2 days, I can't comment on durability. If you need details, read on. Build quality is not fantastic. The buttons are glossy plastic, the rest of the mouse is matte plastic that's almost rubbery to the touch - maybe TPU? The fit isn't perfect - I can see where the ankle doesn't quite fit into the back. There are gaps through which I can see the decorative blue light (but not the sensor's red light). The cable is 6 feet long. It took me a lot less time than I thought to get used to it. After about half an hour, I became uncomfortable using my regular mouse (Logitech G300's symmetrical mouse). It's very comfortable in my hand (I wear size L to XL gloves) and the rubberized finish feels nice. In use, the bottom edge of my arm rests relaxed on the table. In addition to the left and right mouse button, you can also press the scroll wheel, and there is also a forward and a back button. There's also a DPI button to choose between fast and slow mouse movement - I work in fast mode most of the time. The main buttons feel good, but I'm not keen on the front/back buttons. The layout was a bit awkward and I don't like moving my thumb back to hit the back button. They also click a lot less confidently than the main buttons. The wheel is significantly louder than on my Logitech G300. The DPI button doesn't bother you, which is good if you don't use it often, otherwise it gets annoying. There's also no indication of what DPI mode you're in. A blue light shines on the inside (where the thumb is located). Not my thing, and what annoys me is that the light is uneven, with a few darker spots, and the bottom of the tick looks a bit purple, possibly because red LED sensor light is leaking out. It cannot be switched off and is lighter and bluer than in the photo. If it annoys me enough I'll consider surgery to disable it permanently. At first glance I'm not sure I can take it apart without breaking it. additional DPI button. And honestly I wouldn't install the software if it came with a mouse. You will need to purchase third party front/rear button customization software if you want them to do anything else. My biggest concern right now is durability. If it lasts for several years, it costs $12. My only concern will then be whether I can find a replacement. I will update this review if something breaks.
