Battery lasts 4 miles easily on full light

This is my 4th ring in 9 years and I love it. I use it most days in winter when it gets dark as early as 5pm. my dog is often taken off the leash and i love to watch the ring bouncing happily through the woods. With full lighting, the battery easily lasts a 4-mile hike and glows very well the whole time. At the end of a 5 mile hike, the glow just isn't as good as it was at mile zero. At the end of a 7 mile hike the glow is there but to be honest it's kind of off. Since almost all of my hikes are less than 5 miles, I am very satisfied. I have to replace it about every 2 years. - mainly because the battery won't do a 4-mile hike anymore. Aside from being waterproof, the real beauty of these devices is that they can be recharged. At the end of the hike, I take the ring from the dog and plug it into the truck's USB port. When it's time to camp again, the ring will be fully charged and ready to go. I find: * green impressively bright so far the most striking * red quite bright and I would buy it again, if only because red can mean "stop" for a driver. * I had orange twice, everything was fine. both times it was the format of many LEDs in a tube. Despite not using a large number of LEDs, the glow of the transparent ring is "brighter" than many LEDs in the tube. * blue - this belongs to my neighbor. I haven't seen it up close, but from a distance it looks as bright as red but not as bright as green.
