Review on Game console Nintendo Switch OLED 64 GB, Splatoon 3 Edition by Janis Saikovskis ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was surprised by the quality for the price.

Though I own a variety of portable devices, none have ever compared to the PSP. Sony's amazing folly and lack of foresight in burying their offspring and not allowing it to fully grow led to the creation of the most beautiful portable system ever seen. This is the Nintendo Switch experience—it's like the PSP 2 but without the extra features. The direct ideological successor, reviving past emotions in a little different form but with the same core idea. The gaming experience is similar; you play large, noisy games on a small (for a game console) screen. I wish there were more exclusive titles from popular franchises, as there were on the PSP (if a new Grand Theft Auto game was released exclusively for the Switch, it would be the best-selling console game of all time, even without Mario, Zelda, and the gang). This is the best gaming system money can buy for $23,000–$25,000.

Pros
  • It's the same offspring of the famed PSP (but from other parents), and it has the same bright juicy display, fantastic stereo sound, opulent equipment, and wildly convenient device for portable gaming in full-fledged games.
Cons
  • - the battery is somewhat flimsy (albeit this makes sense, since a heavier battery would result in less comfortable ergonomics), despite having a 5 GHz and 1 Gbps connection, the eShop is buggy and slow (game downloads take a long time on the waffle), - almost minimal multimedia support (no media players, no full-fledged browser; yet, YouTube is included, so there is something) - the price of extras (such a case, a screen protector, a flash drive, etc.), which are obligatory but not cheap.
