Bit arrived in perfect condition in good quality, well packaged, plastic storage case. On initial inspection, the shank was ground to 0.501 inch (1/2 inch). Three carbide cutters were ground and sharpened to the same sharp edge size. The Teflon coating was homogeneous and contained no voids. -The carbide cutter (solder) looked good - no cracks or missing fill areas. First I loaded the drill into a benchtop router (Porter-Cable, 3hp) - it went in smoothly and tightened as usual. I hit the lowest setting speed (12,000-16,000 RPM) and did a quick equalize/safe start. When I plugged in the router with the bit under the table (just to make sure the bit talks together on the first run), rotated he feels like a well-balanced production bit. The first pass through aged cherries gave very clean (no cracks) results on the sidewalls and bottom notches. 1/8" deep passes on some raw material (full bit width) gave a smooth (no chipping - sanding required) cherries burn when they come into contact with unbalanced bits or misaligned saws (and for a whole host of other reasons! ).I skipped some wrapped trim and smoothed them out - it looked like they had been run through a thickness planer (smooth, flat and don't need sanding).Yes, and this bit will fill the bill.Due to the price and functionality in store be sure to pick up some to have on hand in various routers This is a great bit for frame mounted routers used for leveling river table tops When making the switch from solid wood to epoxy, take your time and hold on always follow the recommended RPM for the bit size.
