There were several positives to the Visive shorts. The elastic waist in Large with the drawstring was fine. Meaning the waist fit was fine. The chino fabric was fine. The two side pockets and the one back hip pocket were fine. These were very close to what used to be far more ubiquitous, among gym shorts in the 1980s or even the 1990s, easily orderable from major mail-order sellers (e.g., Lands' End) or found at department stores or sporting goods shops, before fashion decided that athletic shorts should be baggy and/or should depart from chino/twill in the case of men. The offsetting significant negative of the Visive purchase was that the measurement from the top of the waist to the crotch was an inch or slightly more shorter, compared to a vintage pair of 1980s or 1990s shorts, when I investigated with a ruler. So this turned out to be why I found what I purchased to be too tight. You'd think a mere inch wouldn't make a difference, but it did in this case, such that next time I will opt instead for the ebay Essentials twill drawstring shorts with like pockets, and hope that they turn out to be better on the one measurement. I also think now that the 8" inseam on the ebay Essentials shorts will prove more to my liking that I thought the 6" inseam on the Visive pair would be. Except, oops, the ebay Essentials shorts appear to be only available to ebay Prime customers, and I don't really want to go the ebay Prime route just for a pair of shorts.
