I got this remote control for my GoPro Hero 5 Black. The connection direction was a bit wrong in the manual, it kept pointing me to the "preference" for reconnecting where it was actually in "connect". At the end I made a short video showing how I set up my Black Hero 5 and maybe others do the same if you can't find a connection reset under "Settings". Once connected it worked perfectly. As many have mentioned, the battery life didn't last long at around 90 minutes, which is about the same as the battery life of a GoPro. But you might think that the remote control shouldn't consume too much power, so it should last longer. The functionality is quite simple, you just press the white mode button to shuffle the GoPro menu and press the red button to run a command. The GoPro 5 and later have voice commands, but they only cover a certain distance. So a remote control helps with long-distance photography or video recording, and is also good for an underwater feature that definitely doesn't work with a voice command.
