Distracting bright light for peripheral vision

I have been using LED reading glasses for many years, I like to read in bed without disturbing my husband. I bought this one and have been trying to use it for a few weeks but I just don't like it and will be returning to Foster Grants. The LEDs aren't arranged that way somehow, I see a bright light with peripheral vision. I've been trying to live with this for a while, but I'm concerned it might damage my eyes.
