I have a 20 lb Cavalier King Charles who LOVES swimming! She usually wears a traditional life jacket, so I got scared when I saw this OBrian. I couldn't figure out how it would add buoyancy to a regular life jacket. From the moment I put it on my dog for the first time I was pleasantly surprised! Dilly loves the extra freedom of movement this life jacket offers as it is not bulky around the neck and legs. She can easily get on and off our boat by herself. She can turn her head left and right and nothing prevents her from seeing. She swims in the water as expected and can wear a life jacket for long periods of time without interfering with land and land movement. The handle is solid when I lift it on and off the boat. So far the colors have not faded in the sun. The jacket is brightly colored and highly visible in the water to other boaters, water skiers and kayakers. This is an important factor given her small size and the fact that she is black. I unzip the zipper and lower my vest and Dilly comes through the hole in her throat. I can easily zip and tie a vest in a short amount of time. We originally bought it at a sporting goods store and paid $25 more. I was so happy to find it at Revain that I bought a second one as a spare! I definitely recommend it for a small dog! The only downside is that it takes a long time to dry due to the material it is made of.
