So in my opinion these curtains aren't the best as outer curtains in terms of fabric - they're low key and white (which is what I ordered) but basically this is the material you'll find as a blackout lining . in nicer curtains / in better hotels. It's somewhat similar in weight and feel to the smoother spittles and waterproof layers you use in a crib. They work great - simple channels at the top (there are two widths) and bottom means you can clip them onto a pole (in my case it's a 12 foot long, 1 inch diameter bamboo pole as this is a temporary requirement is) - However, these are the same channels that would also limit your ability to easily open/close curtains or attach them to the back of curtains with hooks. I'm concerned that they might be a bit heavy for some of the tie rods, so I'd use very strong ones if going this route. I think they work well as a temporary, inexpensive room darkening option that will allow me to continue opening and closing windows during our renovation project. I'm not interested in elaborate window displays and the room we're in gets a lot of sun so I'm hoping that helps with that. If so, then I can try to hide them somewhere under possible curtains, although once I've bought them I don't want to waste them. Generally if the curtains were hemmed I assume there are easier ways to do it. They are badly dented and dented from packaging but I think a dryer will lessen this.
