Review on πŸ“„ Enhance Paper Handling Efficiency with Lexmark 550-Sheet Tray (40C2100) by Michael Gilmartin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No Wi-Fi enabled, relatively high cost of toner per page

This is a very powerful laser printer for a medium sized office or workgroup. The printer is fast and the print quality is excellent. However, the cost per page can be quite high depending on the type of images to be printed. The supplied toner cartridges are rated for 3,000 pages and there are four of them. Replacing a set of four costs about $400. 400/3000 sheets = 13.3 cents per page. There are quality inkjet printers for office use that can reduce these costs by 50%. Also note that Lexmark has gone to great lengths to ensure customers can only use the rather expensive Lexmark branded replacement toners. Available "Return Program" toner cartridges are sold with an agreement that they will be returned to Lexmark at the end of their rated life and firmware is designed to prevent the use of refilled and/or third party toners. In theory, there could be a cheaper no-refund option, but this is unlikely in practice. I was also surprised that the Wi-Fi connection was not activated. $200 option required! accessory.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Could have opted for a newer model
