The glass lid for our 3 liter saucepan broke on the third low boil. Pot and lid were at room temperature before cooking. Contacted T-fal, here is their email reply: We're sorry to hear you're having a problem with the lid. T-fal is committed to maintaining high quality standards to offer the best cookware. The glass material used in our lids has undergone a manufacturing process called tempering. This process provides increased strength, impact resistance and heat resistance. When tempered glass breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces, preventing serious injury. For these reasons, it is commonly used in impact-resistant windows and shower doors, as well as cookware. Covers are subject to wear and tear with normal use and can be exposed to extreme temperature changes (hot to cold/cold to hot). In addition, lids should be hand washed, avoiding abrasive sponges/brushes as these can scratch the glass. We hope you find this information useful. Our lids are out of warranty or out of warranty.
