For years I've used lighter weight (<1000lb) ratchet straps to carry canoes on the roof and after 1000 miles I've seen things like velcro stitching fall apart and the edges are so worn that I i decided to buy them. So far I'm glad I did. The added strength and durability are evident the moment you pick it up - they're essential. Worry much less about the thicker belt and ratchet material failing due to wear, warping, corrosion, etc. The heavier material doesn't vibrate, nor shift, and doesn't make those awful humming noises. continuous reinforcement threads, a smooth-running release mechanism on the actual ratchet handle and real 180*S-shaped hooks. The S-Hook issue is real and the fact that Moto actually explains it in the description shows they know what they are doing. Even orange is good. for visibility, because a loose 3,300-pound spreader can do a lot of damage if it hits the wheel arch. In general, I am very pleased that they are much more calm.
