Purchased on 5th September 2021 from Revain. Delivery in a box. It was a two person lift, but the strong young UPS driver made it on his own. ASSEMBLY: I have been assembling furniture on frames and cams for a good 40 years, have seen everything from Scandinavian high end to Ikea, Sauder, O'Sullivan to nameless Chinese manufacturers. This kit is rated B or B+ based on my subjective experience of accuracy of design and manufacture. The written instructions/assembly pictures were in small print and difficult to see. More would have been better but they didn't embarrass me or say the wrong things. Probably the two cams moved out of the holes a bit when tightening due to different hole or cam sizes (a trivial 1/16 inch and nobody will ever notice, this can happen when drilling a cam hole where in the chipboard being manufactured there is a cavity is located). I thought the instructions were missing some good advice on the importance of aligning the frame before nailing it to the backplate (so if you're reading this before assembly, be sure to align it before you start nailing start and check it while nailing). The 50 +/- nails/pins were small and therefore difficult to hold without hitting your fingers with a hammer (PAX, a marketed IKEA brand, offers a smart nail holder/mount that to solve this problem; if you're a DIY tool enthusiast, maybe you have a nail tool that you can pick up and use instead). It then has to be placed on the front to be nailed to the back and as the bottom shelf of the base is sticking out the sides are airborne and have no support to nail. I laid some 2x4 pieces I had underneath and attached the sides to improve stability for nailing. SETUP / INSTALLATION: The kit includes 2 wall anchor brackets to mount the plate to the wall. They MUST be used for the safety of babies and cats who will sooner or later climb on them (don't be lazy). The mounts were easy the slot allowed any base width to be adjusted and the beveled holes for the flush mounted funnel screws. There is a pre-drilled screw hole on the top of the shelf. They included very lame plastic drywall anchors, however, and you really need to buy some decent self-drilling anchors that go in with less irritation and have double or triple the holding power. before undressing. Or position the shelf so that one or both brackets line up with the studs in the wall and simply screw in for up to 100x more holding power. The shelves were of a thin material, but more than strong enough for the task, and being thin, they increased the media space (IKEA used to sell a Besta brand media rack with 1/2 shelves, serious overkill). The pin holes in the shelf were about 1 1/4" apart, in my dream world they would be 1/2" or closer for finer adjustment to maximize usable shelf space. NOTE: The middle shelf is fixed and not adjustable, but all shelves above and below CAN be adjusted. This company sells another media shelf model that looks almost identical but without the adjustable shelves, which I think is a major limitation. PLEASE NOTE WHAT YOU ARE BUYING as it is not apparent from the pictures or the product name. The fixed middle shelf meant that to utilize all the space I had to play around and reposition the shelves several times to get the configuration. which works best with my VHS/DVD/Blue-Ray/CD mixed media collection. When I was done there wasn't much space between the shelves, but that meant one row held VHS media, then the next rows held DVD media, and then VHS media again. If I kept all the media together the same size for aesthetic reasons I would waste too much usable space. CONCLUSION: Price, adjustability, build quality were more than good enough that I would buy it again without hesitation. I had to play around and rearrange the shelves a few times to find the configuration that worked best for my VHS/DVD/Blue-Ray/CD mixed media collection. When I finished there wasn't much space between the shelves, but that meant a row contained VHS media. then the next few rows were DVD media and then VHS media again. If I kept all the media together the same size for aesthetic reasons I would waste too much usable space.
