Sometimes it works great, sometimes it doesn't work at all

When it works, it's amazing. Right now we're about 50/50 if it works / doesn't work, and it's not as "instant" as I was hoping. When I first got it I loved it and it worked very well, very quickly. But after 2-3 months the battery keeps coming loose so it can't read the temperature properly, which is annoying when you're grilling and holding your hand over a hot flame. I stuffed this into a defrosted pork tenderloin and grilled for 20 minutes and it came back at 71*. Eh, no. I figured it might be an outside wind, so I took it inside to see if it would measure the room temperature (but it doesn't). I finally removed the back cover, found the battery was disconnected, and tried again. It took me a full minute to determine the fillet's temperature because it rose and fell, but at a rate of about one degree per second. I didn't believe it and went to my non-digital thermometer (which is so bad I bought this instant digital thermometer to replace). It could be the battery - which would be funny because I use it maybe once every two weeks so it doesn't seem like it's been used that much - and if I change the battery and it works properly again I'll update the post To update.
