These shoes have a thicker sole than other water shoes I had purchased, while still being plenty flexible to allow one to "grip" with the toes a little bit. It offers both a little more traction and safety than the thinner-soled varieties. I like the laces, which enable adjustment of the width/fit of these shoes on one's foot, and I really like the colors. Most importantly, the ability to adjust the fit and the rubber sole (which limits the width and stretch of the shoe) prevent these shoes from being like duck feet where the toe are just splays outward and flops around the sides of one's feet.
