Cheap and effective

I bought this volumetric filter media for the Fluval 207 canister filter. I have tried filter floss before, but I had a hard time getting the same amount of floss in each bowl in addition to the biomedia in each tray . The problem was that in thinner areas this inevitably resulted in all detritus flowing through those areas, while in denser areas very little filtering took place. It was also difficult to ensure that the filament actually stayed in the tray when other trays and the lid were stacked on top of each other. I then tried this pad: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0141HU1AG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This medium worked very well but clogged up after a week and then the debris just came off around the pad viewing the media is useless. Koral pads are good value for money. It cuts easily. I can trim it to ensure no particles run down the sides of the pads and it compresses easily when I want to add a Purigen pouch to the tray. It's a good choice for those who don't want to pay for pre-cut filter media, and it's a very efficient filter media. I highly recommend it.
