The timer function was easy for my daughter to use but the item arrived damaged. The timer function still works, but not exactly. I'd rather have a better quality timer that wouldn't get damaged. The timer itself consists of two parts, you turn one part and it starts. The bottom half you spin is crooked so it gets stuck sometimes so the timer isn't as accurate. Luckily I don't use it for baking or anything like that, but I do use it for school lessons so absolutely precise timing is not required.
