Review on πŸš— Automotive Magnetic Coating Thickness Tester by Eric Power

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as advertised!

I love simplicity! Read and follow the instructions! I can't be wrong Be sure to calibrate it before use. Mine had no issues and was pretty much right out of the box. The pointer has a spring metal pointer with a plastic ring/base around it so make sure you press it against the metal so the ring sits flat on the surface. This allows you to read more closely. What some people don't realize is that this device measures everything from the surface of the metal base to the top of the clear coat. Does not work on bumpers. As they say, this applies to aluminum and steel products. The thickness of primer, paint, clear coat and any filler is shown on the screen. If an area is thick, like 12 mils, and 4 inches to the nearest point shows only 5 mils, there's a good chance the 12 mil area was repair work. My point is that thicker areas don't indicate a thicker transparent layer! This is a great device for the price!
