Please note - I am an elderly person with high frequency hearing loss. Those of you with golden ears might have a different opinion. I used B&W mid-range home theater speakers, a Polk subwoofer, and a $1,000 AV receiver. B/W is smooth, with good dispersion, but lacks sharpness to the point of being muted. The Klipsches were purchased to be used as an extra pair of front speakers (front A+B configuration) in hopes of remedying these shortcomings. The upper mids and highs on my system now sound much better and crisper than before. The base is much denser and more powerful. Purists may fade, but to my old ears the Klipsch/B&W combo sounds better than either. But if I had to settle for one, I'd leave the B&W and keep the Klipsch, even though the B&Ws cost at least three times as much. Decades and decades ago I had a pair of the original Klipschorn. They were fantastically effective, but a little disappointing in terms of tone (the strings didn't sound like strings, for example). These new Klipsch bookshelf speakers are also fairly efficient (though not like those original horns) and I like them a lot better sonically. For the price I think they're great. Tight, penetrating, non-stinging, non-tiring. Not the world's most luxurious finish or a stunning case, but at this price point it's all about the sound. (And I personally think copper woofers look pretty cool, and I don't use a grill.) Thanks to them, I'm looking forward to another golden era of music listening before my hearing is completely gone. I highly recommend them.
