I bought this for my 4 month old pup and it works as advertised. Clear picture and sound and the treat dispenser works great. However. The HDX version is new. It was released in late 2019, according to the company, so my device had some issues connecting to my WiFi, resulting in the device having to hard reset regularly. The customer support team worked with me and I can't say enough about how wonderful the experience was. Customer service definitely gets an A++++ rating. They help solve the problem. (Meanwhile I bought a cheap $9 HOMNI WiFi outlet that I can control remotely, so if the system ever freezes I can reset the outlet's power and PetChatz will restart and work fine.) My Dog doesn't t the only one. one with separation anxiety; we"fathers" are coming. So it's really nice to be able to watch the furbabies while we're out. It's not cheap but for the peace of mind and the opportunity to connect with your special family member it was worth it to us. Price . And NO, you don't need to purchase an additional mounting case unless you're concerned your larger dogs might want to rip it out of the wall. We've attached ours to the wall of his kennel with strong velcro and they're secure. Even when my dog tries to climb he tries to find us behind the unit when he is confused to see us on the video monitor. I have already recommended this device to several friends because it just works. If in doubt about the purchase, DO IT! You will not be disappointed.
