My poor Shop-Vac has spent many, many hours vacuuming up all kinds of construction debris. I didn't really pay attention to the insults I was throwing as the vacuum was barely sucking in air and seemed to get very hot. I disassembled the motor assembly, cleaned the foam filters, plucked the springs(?!) from the air intake, and promised never to use my Shop-Vac again. This is my first step towards fulfilling that promise. The bag is almost full, the vacuum is still pulling well, and the HEPA filter has only been cleaned once (more out of curiosity than necessity). When the bag is done, I disconnect it from the internal connector of the vacuum cleaner body and throw it away. The dreadful task of ejecting five gallons of fine dust without choking was over.
