Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced GEARWRENCH 145" Automatic Locking Ratcheting Hose Pinch Off Pliers by Manny Darawi

Terrible lock jamming and slipping

I'm a bit loyal to the serrated keys as a brand. Has been working as a mechanic for over 6 years, in the automotive industry as a car mechanic, as well as in various other sectors with trailers and construction machinery. I usually have to pinch off hoses to change fuel filters or pinch off vent hoses to expansion tanks to check pressure. When I first started working as a mechanic, I found that the gear wrench had the quality and price to be a good middle ground between low-end crappy store-bought tools and a tool cart that can rob artists. You paid a little more than tradesman or port freight (unfortunately, there's not much of a difference these days) and the result was reliable tools you could rely on every day without selling a kidney for a keychain. . That's why I've stayed a bit loyal to the Zeckenspanner brand. Like I said, it's complete garbage. They were originally intended for pinching air ducts to diagnose air leaks in truck braking systems. They don't have the required downforce to pinch the air line, at least not far. I've tried using them on a fuel hose during servicing to prevent spilling diesel, but they never clamped tight enough for liquid to seep past them and make a mess. definitely. I then attempted to use them to pinch the coolant bottle overflow hoses so I could pressurize the cooling system. Not only were they ineffective at sealing 15psi due to air leakage from the hose and loss of pressure, they also began to slip from the tightest setting. After all that I threw them away. A complete waste of money. I will try another brand as they are not good at all maybe the weight of the paper.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some minor things
