It helps. I really like the flat look of these grip covers. You can hardly tell they're even there. Each pen cover can be separated into two separate pieces by itself, which was great. I often forget to put them on and our son pulls on them so it's nice to know they won't break even if he rips them off. We're giving 3 stars instead of 5 because they fit snugly on our standard sized handles - so if they're not at the right angle, they can be tricky to open. Another downside to the tight fit is that when your cooker is turned on and the lid is rotated or unscrewed, the heat output of your cooker can be slightly altered. These pen cases feel very sturdy and I love the detach feature - so for me the good definitely outweighs the bad. We would definitely buy them again compared to other models I've used in the past, both for the price and the low profile.
