I thought it was too big because most hamsters are a bit bigger than small rodents, but it was PERFECT for my mice! I have orphaned house mice that I raised from little fingers. They are both boys and started fighting in the same cage so I have 2. They absolutely LOVE them. I will update when I clean it for the first time which will be very soon. Perfect! They REALLY like the little upstairs apartment that the pipe connects to. They brought a bunch of their bedding upstairs to fill up lol.
