I can't understand any of the negative reviews, except maybe that I received a defective appliance, but then why are you writing a review? With 1 star you got a refund from Revain that happens. The microwave works better than my old $200 fryer/toaster. I was able to make a frozen pot pie that takes 60 minutes at 400F in the oven. Since the reviews said it runs cooler I ran it at 425F for 60 minutes and it actually burned a bit so I think the 400F would do the job. Unlike some other microwave ovens I've used, the heating coil/element is on the bottom. Function "convection" or grill, it really works. The microwave was very hot and the cake in the pot was steaming. I think people might have a problem based on the feedback I've seen trying to make too big a batch and using bulky pyrex pans. /5 - TOAST This is a comparison to other "toasters". You will NOT receive toasts as quickly as the timeframe specified. That's common sense. But it works no worse than a regular toaster. Again, my old $200 toaster (which was highly rated) didn't fare any better. For two toasts he chose 5 minutes in automatic mode. My other toaster around this time was normal for it to heat up and toast it. I have no idea what other people had in mind in their reviews when they acted like it was taking an insurmountable amount of time and worse, they acted like the toaster function didn't even work. Maybe they like their toasted bread but after 5 minutes both of my bread slices were completely golden brown on one side and golden brown with a white center on the other side. I'd probably clink a little less next time now that I know it works so well. I'm deducting 1 point here because it's not really a "toast" variant like a true 4-in-1 microwave. It doesn't really have a "broiler" or that heating element on top like a toaster oven I think. It only uses convection/air frying so technically it's not a true version of toast, but it works. For $500 "MSRP" you can definitely get something that has that little extra too. 5/5 - MICROWAVE The microwave in this appliance is very powerful. That means you should either lower the setting, or for certain things like popcorn, don't wait until the last pop and take it out a little earlier. For example, a 3.2-ounce bag of popcorn was oversized for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. 2 minutes was just right. Again, I have no idea what people are talking about in their reviews when they say the microwave is on the weak side or someone else is pretending they burned their popcorn so they can't just cook it in less time. "The only thing I don't like about the microwave is the silicone sheet they want to use with it, but I think it dissipates some heat/reduces problems since it's a metal plate on the bottom. I don't mind that compromise if it means they can make the convection function more powerful than other microwaves. Someone mentioned their milk cup or something dropped because of it, but honestly I don't see how that could have happened if it wasn't carelessly placed. I haven't tried microwave cooking without this silicone pad, but if I do I'll update the review. so there's no penalty for that from my side, but otherwise it might be 4/5 for you. 3/5 - FRYER I'll have to test the fryer later, but for now I've done what I did with my old air. Fryer that allows you to quickly fry bread. I waited about 15-20 minutes after using the toaster function to let it cool and then attempted to toast 2 more new slices of bread on the air fryer for 2 minutes instead of the 5 minutes used for the toast function . I believe it actually uses "air frying" or convection for the toasting function, but it sits lower so I actually used an air fry kit for that. Unfortunately not really toasted. I also added 1 more minute, then 2 more minutes, for a total of 5 minutes, and the results were mostly not golden at all, possibly because I stopped/restarted it. I put them in the continuous fryer for another 6 minutes. In fact, it was slightly less golden brown on top and not brown at all underneath. But it definitely felt more "cooked," like in firmer toast. I have yet to play with it and add real food, like wings, but I don't have high hopes for a fryer. It might actually be better to lower the fry pan all the way down and use it in "Toast" mode so that both the bottom heating element and the fryer are used for better results.
