Don't Waste Your Money

We decided to renovate the picnic area at our restaurant this year and wanted to move to a sun shade setup. It seemed like we were breaking at least 2 umbrellas a year even if we purchased quality umbrellas. So we installed a 36x12 concrete pad and ordered everything to put up a nice sun shade seating area. One of the components we purchased were these 112” poles.As you can see in pictures I attached, they didn’t last. They were installed at the beginning of June which means they didn’t even last 2 months. We had a storm here and it damaged 4 out of the 6 poles we installed. As you can see in the pictures for the product and as mentioned in other reviews, the poles have threads to alone them to screw together. Unfortunately, the threads are not nearly long enough. In our situation it ripped them right out of the threaded bases for two of them and partially pulled them out of each joint for another two.For reference, here is the information for our setup. Each pole base was bolted to concrete. Each section of pole was tightened using a pipe wrench. Each pair of poles had a brace attached at the top to stop any unwanted bowing at the top. All 4 outer poles had ground anchors installed behind them to provide reverse tension using steel wire kits. Finally, both sun shades used oversized hardware to attach and tension them. The only thing that didn’t survive the storm was the poles.In the pictures I attached you can see the almost finished setup before the bracing poles were added to the top. The rest of the pictures are the aftermath. I feel like I’m a bit stuck with these products and will buy replacements. This time I’ll have them tack welded at the seams to make sure they can’t come apparent again. I would suggest other people to look elsewhere though.

Pros
  • If you want to shorten the length of the wire and create tension just pull the wire in one direction and with the wire lock it wont loose. If you want to loosen the wire toward the opposite way, just insert the key to the lock;
Cons
  • May require professional installation for optimal results
